Coronation Street’s Connor McIntyre hints evil Pat Phelan will kill again after surviving cliff plunge
The 57-year-old star, who plays one of soapland's most prolific villains, revealed residents of Weathefield need to 'watch out'.
CORONATION Steet's Connor McIntyre has hinted that his evil alter-ego Pat Phelan will kill again.
The 57-year-old star, who plays one of soapland's most prolific villains, revealed residents of Weathefield need to "watch out".
Connor said: "Everyone should be watching out. Even those you might not expect.
"The less Phelan has to lose, the more dangerous he is. He now feels that everyone has betrayed him – even Eileen.
"So you have to assume that he's going to go back and 'correct' something.
"That's how he sees it with his warped sense of morality."
While some viewers are arguing that Coronation Street has become too violent, Connor thinks the balance of the soap overall "is about right".
He said: "I absolutely respect people's opinions about it being too dark.
"We've all got aesthetic tastes. Comments are always justified - if that's how people feel about it.
"But my obligation is to serve the scripts as well I can. Personally, I think [series producer] Kate Oates has done a brilliant job - I'm a huge fan.
He added: "The balance is about right - it's not all sensationalist, Phelan's story is just one component of the show."
Connor has also teased that fans can expected an exciting ending when Phelan's demise eventually plays out.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, he said: "Soap law decrees that he gets his comeuppance - and the audience deserves that because they’ve been very patient.
"Good should triumph. And you're going to love how it all plays out."
Coronation Street reveals Pat Phelan is still alive despite falling into the icy sea
Phelan is set to attack Gary Windass (Mikey North) with a baseball bat in upcoming scenes, which has seen him become favourite to be the murderer's next victim.
Gary is priced at evens with bookies William Hill, but the soap supervillain could also come after his wife Eileen Phelan (Sue Cleaver), who is 3/1 second favourite.
The bookie also believes there is a chance the Corrie script writers could decide to do away with Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) and her daughter Faye Windass (Ellie Leach), who are priced at 16/1 and 25/1 to be Phelan's next victims respectively.
