STARS such as Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Carr and Corrie’s Catherine Tyldesley were paid up to £5,000 to appear on charity celeb editions of Catchphrase.
The ITV gameshow specials saw famous faces compete to raise funds for good causes.
Others thought to have been paid four-figure fees include Birds of a Feather’s Linda Robson, Cold Feet star Fay Ripley and Paralympics swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
Jonathan Ross also appeared, but later donated his fee to charity. It is unclear if the other stars did so.
A TV source said: “It came as a surprise to find out the celebrities were getting paid when the show appears to be just for charity.
“Obviously they are giving their time for good causes, but viewers probably wouldn’t expect the stars to be paid.”
The Eighties gameshow was revived in 2013 with Stephen Mulhern as host.
