Charles Bronson ‘covered himself in butter to rumble with prison guards after getting angry at not seeing wife on Valentine’s Day’
Armed robber Bronson was reportedly tackled to the ground by 12 prison guards after stripping off and buttering up
BRITAIN's most violent prisoner Charles Bronson was injured in a Valentine's Day "rumble" with guards after smearing butter on himself, it has been reported.
The Lurpak-loving lag, 65, is said to have been angered after he was told he could not see his wife Paula, 37, to give her a romantic card.
In an attempt to make it harder to pin him down, armed robber Bronson stripped off and buttered up before challenging staff at HMP Frankland, according to the Mirror.
This is not the first time the con used the slippery tactic, but on this occasion he was reportedly wrestled to the ground and restrained by guards, injuring his right shoulder.
A source told the paper: “He was wanting a rumble but he ended up being the only one who got hurt – not like the old days.
“He was in the exercise yard on segregation wing with three other cons in the cage training to next to his.
“He pulled out half a pound of butter and took his clothes off and shouted and smiled to the officer in charge, ‘Oi Gov, you’d better ring your mates as there’s gonna be a bit of a rumble’. He then started spreading the butter all over him.
“He started warming up and was smiling when 12 guards with shields, protective clothing and batons ran to the scene.
“There was lots of ducking and diving but the guards got control of Charlie before he could do any damage. He was restrained on the floor and then sent back to his cell.”
The incident is understood to have happened after Bronson was moved from HMP Wakefield in January for attacking a deputy governor in a spat about his wedding photos.
In 2014, Bronson buttered his body to take on 12 officers at Full Sutton jail in York after becoming upset at Arsenal winning the FA cup.
The violent criminal planned to tie the knot with Paula Williamson on her birthday in August last year– but had to wait for confirmation of a date for their ceremony from the authorities.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Paula revealed that they would be married "sooner rather than later" in the prison chapel, where they would be allowed 10 guests who would be a mixture of her friends and family and his.
The couple were granted permission to wed in a service that took place on November 14.

Former Corrie actress Paula was bundled into Wakefield jail under a purple cloak after a bizarre procession through the town led by a Bronson lookalike and a woman on a mobility scooter.
Charles was handcuffed to a warder for the strictly controlled two-hour ceremony witnessed by just five guests.
A reception was held at a local hotel, but Paula will be heading to Malta without her new husband as he was led back to his cell after the ceremony.
Paula emerged from the prison under a ghostly white shroud on top of her purple cloak, ensuring her dress was almost completely hidden from view.
She was then smuggled into the York House Hotel through a side door to continue the celebrations with friends and family - who had their phones confiscated as she has reportedly sold picture rights to a newspaper.
The Mirror reports the Bronson has had his TV and radio removed from his cell and phone calls banned since the recent "rumble".
His weekly allowance is also said to have been also been cut to £5 and his visiting hours halved.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said: “We do not comment on individual prisoners.”
